December New Releases We're Excited For!

December is wrapping up the year with some great gifts with these new releases! Our book buyers, Llalan and Jordan, breakdown the ones we're most excited for.

Here are our Fiction and Nonfiction New Releases!

Dazzling by Chikodili Emelumadu

A coming of age story in Africa involving Nigerian mythology. Two young women deal with forces both human and fantastical as they struggle to get what they deserve in a world that doesn’t favor females. Magic and girl power? Sign me up.

Out December 5th!

The End of the World Is a Cul d Sac: Stories by Louise Kennedy

All of us here know what a sucker I am for a good short story, and I can’t wait to dig into this new collection by the Irish author of the novel Trespasses. The stories are focused on women, their own particular darkness, and their search for beauty in the life they’ve been handed.

Out December 5th!

Loaded: The Life (and Afterlife) of the Velvet Underground by Dylan Jones

A juicy rock and roll book full of sex, drugs, and Lou Reed? Dish please. This book contains stories from over 140 people in the music industry, including Mr. Reed, himself.

Out December 5th!

Flores and Miss Paula by Melissa Rivero

An immigrant mom and a millennial daughter struggle to find common ground in this sweet, empathetic novel. Something to warm you up on these dark nights!

Out December 5th!

All the Little Bird-Hearts by Viktoria Lloyd-Barlow

Longlisted for this year’s Booker Prize (and they always find good ones), this novel is about an autistic woman and her obstinate daughter who find themselves in a tricky situation. Written poetically and with humor, a favorite combination of mine.

Out December 5th!

The Wildest Sun by Asha Lemmie

The premise is wild, indeed: a young woman in postwar Paris believes her father is Ernest Hemingway. A quest novel at its best, she goes in search of him and herself.

Out December 5th!

Second Chances in New Port Stephen by TJ Alexander

While romances aren’t usually my thing, I know this author and trust them to write something sweet and thoughtful. A trans man runs into his high school ex on an already disastrous stay at home. What could go wrong (or right)?

Out December 5th!

Songs On Endless Repeat: Essays and Outtakes by Anthony Veasna So

These are the collected essays and posthumously published works of short fiction by the author of Afterparties. Ranging from the lives of his refugee parents to pop culture, So’s writing shines with keen wit and intelligence.

Out December 5th!

Prophet Song by Paul Lynch

This one was on the Shortlist for the Booker Prize! In this dark, terrifying, indubitably Irish novel, a woman struggles to keep her family together in the face of a crumbling country.

Out December 12th!

No One Left to Come Looking for You by Sam Lipsyte

Now out in paperback, this novel delves deep into the 90s New York City rock scene. I came to that party a little late and can no longer afford to be an artist in NYC, but this book is a dark, funny, suspenseful homage to that time.

Out December 12th!

Here are our Young Adult, Middle Grade, and Children's New Releases!

The Princess and the (Greedy) Pea by Leigh Hodgkinson

A food themed book based off of the princess and the pea I’m sold.

Tag, You're Dead by Kathryn Foxfield

I’m a big fan of YA Thrillers and this one sound really about a killer game of tag.

Mika and the Gurgler by Agata Loth-Ignaciuk

About a little girl who discovers what a washing machine (Gurgler). This one looks so cute, I think people of all ages are going to love it.

Listen, this list wouldn’t be complete if I didn’t add something Bluey themed. Now is this a valentine's book? Yes, but it’s Bluey so who cares!

Our Cursed Love by Julie Abe

I really enjoyed this author MG so I'm excited to see what she does with YA. This seems really cute and right up my alley.

This one helps teach your little one about moods by using a cute dog to do so.

Where There's Smoke by E. B. Vickers

This may or may not be another YA Thriller.

Out December 12th!

Be My Valenslime by Kris Tarantino, illustrated by Cori Doerrfeld

I know it’s another valentine's book but the art on this is so cute I couldn’t not put it on here. About a little monster who loves Valentines.

Heartstopper #5 by Alice Oseman

I personally haven’t read this series but I know it’s a big one so I can’t wait till everyone gets their hands on it.

Ruthless Vows by Rebecca Ross

This is one of my most highly anticipated reads of the year! I loved the first one so I can’t wait to pick this one up as well the TikTok hype was correct when it came to this book.
